    The Treasury IT Team is looking for a Functional Analyst to focus on projects related to different Treasury functions. This role is ideal for an experienced Functional Analyst with Financial domain knowledge and interest in Treasury business who relishes delivering IT solutions in a dynamic environment. 

    The core functions of Treasury are to manage Liquidity and Capital for the Bank as well as to funding requirements and allocate the funding costs to the businesses (Transfer Pricing). These are supported by a number of bespoke IT platforms that the Treasury IT team are responsible for: primarily a reporting platform to support the stress testing and liquidity management functions of Treasury and a web-based Portfolio Management system to manage Issuance, Capital Hedging and Strategic Liquidity Reserves (SLR) for the Bank.

    With the increased focus on Risk and Liquidity Management by both the Bank and Regulators, the team has commenced a number of transformation projects to improve its technology platforms. One is to implement a new reporting platform that will support such functions as daily stress testing, integration of new risk methodologies and key operational reporting needs. The second is to build a strategic scalable platform for Treasury Portfolio Management allowing flexible portfolio management analytics for Issuance, Capital and SLR management with drill down to transaction level and ability to optimise Portfolio’s risk and performance by minimising costs and optimising pricing strategies and asset mixes.  As the funding represents a scarce resource, the requirement to have a platform for effective pricing and transparent allocation of the Bank’s funding costs has become a priority as well.

    Role:

    The key objective of this role is to bridge the gap between the client’s needs and the technical delivery team and to help successfully deliver projects within this diverse and challenging space. The Functional Analyst will be heavily involved at all stages of the software delivery lifecycle from initial scoping and planning exercises through to the detailed analysis and collaboration with the IT team to deliver working software.

    The Functional Analyst will be required to work effectively with the Treasury team, Treasury Operations, the IT Project Manager and other Business and Functional Analysts within the Treasury IT team and the IT vendor teams to successfully deliver the projects. 

    The role requires an enthusiastic, pragmatic self-starter who wants to solve problems by delivering quality and cost-effective solutions through the employment of excellent business analysis techniques and functional domain knowledge.

    Responsibilities:

    • Defining and refining business cases in conjunction with Treasury as part of the Project initiation
    • Challenging, capturing and articulating requirements according to the quality standards operating within the team
    • Maintaining and managing the product backlog to ensure priorities are agreed and clear with Treasury
    • Pro-active in identifying cost effective solutions to business problems
    • Acting as the voice of the client throughout the development process
    • Liaising with all parties (Treasury, Operations, IT delivery team) involved to ensure successful delivery
    • Assisting and supporting QAT and UAT
    • Ensuring agreed analysis deliverables are prepared according to deadline of the projects
    • Mediating and resolving issues as and when they arise
    • Close co-operation with other teams in the Bank to ensure strategic initiatives are leveraged
    • Identifying areas where we can improve the analysis and delivery capabilities of the wider team
    • Keeping aware of the latest industry trends and best practice in order to improve the team

    Skills:

    • Outstanding analysis skills comprising demonstrable experience of all aspects of analysis such as business process modelling, use cases/user story writing, data modelling, UML.
    • Experience in stakeholder management and building excellent professional relationships
    • Previous Financial Domain experience is a plus
    • Beneficial to have understanding of financial products and high level risk management principles
    • Comfortable working within a full project life cycle from initiation through to delivery
    • Experience of working with an agile methodology would be an advantage
    • Experience of liaison with other departments (i.e. business units, infrastructure teams, audit) across multiple countries
    • Experience in working with remote client and vendor resources
    • Experience in identifying and documenting client technical needs, internal structures, procedures, workflows and systems
    • Beneficial to have experience working on projects requiring data analysis
    • Proven track record of delivering projects in a challenging environment
    • Fantastic written and oral communication
    • Flexible - keen to learn new technologies and to extend business domain knowledge
    • Good problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrable success in meeting deadlines and operating with clients and vendors
    • Work to schedules, potentially across multiple projects and teams
    • Pragmatic yet showing a high attention to detail
    • Educated to degree level
