System Engineer

The Berg Computers story began in 1991 when the company opened its doors. Established as a Romanian-German partnership, we are a software services company with a strong background in implementing complex projects for global clients and our Berg Software brand naturally comes to meet our reputation in the software industry.

Our headquarters is located outside the city, which means that we can completely disconnect from the frantic pulse of the city and work in a relaxed and stress-free environment. We love our tranquil coffee breaks, especially when they happen in our green back yard.

Required skills

- Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent through experience
- Strong interest in Linux based systems, preferably of RHEL/CentOS based systems
- Scripting skills (bash, ruby, python, perl, ...)
- Basic understanding of the networking aspects of a Linux environment
- Inquisitive, have passion for new technologies, be dynamic and flexible
- Eager to learn and to stay on top of new technologies
- Fluent in English
- Excellent team player
- Entrepreneurial attitude with a ‘can do’ mentality


Optional skills

- Configuration management with Puppet
- Linux performance optimization
- Hands-on Virtualization experience
- Cloud Management Systems (like OpenStack)
- SDN/NFV principles
- Carrier grade or telecom grade system design
- Evolutions in FastPath packet forwarding techniques like DPDK
- CI and CD workflows
- Job automation with Jenkins
- Background experience in programming (Java, C/C++, ...)
- In depth networking knowledge

Implementation and maintenance of the reproducibility of our Linux environments which are shipped in to the field.

This includes:

- Implementation of configuration management using Puppet
- Development and maintenance of various in-house tools written in scripting languages
- Configuration of KVM-based virtualization environment
- Automatic set-up of (web)applications and databases
- Safeguarding the
- Upgradability
- Reliability
- High availability
- Troubleshooting active systems
- Providing support to internal teams related to the above activities
- Automating procedures and actions
- Brainstorming and suggesting solutions to problems at hand
- Keeping an eye on technology and possible fits within our systems
