POSITION SUMMARY
We’re seeking a rockstar DevOps Engineer who will manage & grow our fast-growing set of products & services, as well as the team that automates their deployment & production operations. This requires hands-on mastery of on both the AWS platform and our on-premise server infrastructure, including developing tools for configuration management, code deployment, continuous integration, automated testing and monitoring. You will need strong skills in implementing and managing high availability, mission critical infrastructure and should be a dedicated problem solver who can multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and demanding environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in both system engineering /administration and software development, with a proven ability to work with a world-class team of like-minded engineers in a fast-paced, growing startup environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own end-to-end, timely & high quality delivery of the team's projects
Contribute directly as a hands-on devops developer, including coding, code reviews, test reviews, deployment, operations & issue resolution
Build and maintain tools that will help us test, deploy, measure, monitor and scale our applications and infrastructure
Continuously improve our processes and tools to ensure the best possible experience for our users, from availability to performance and reliability
Deploy and upgrade software in production using tools like Ansible and Docker.
Responsible for implementing Security and Compliance Control Requirements
Monitor system quality, stability and performance in production systems.
Develop and Improve operational and engineering practices and procedures
Establish and improve incident and operational issue status tracking process
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Strong software engineering fundamentals (BSc/MSc or equivalent experience)
5+ years as a Software, DevOps or an Operations Engineer, including major contributions to complex projects, preferably in both established and early-stage technology companies
3+ years of experience supporting a real-time, 24x7 production web environment.
3+ years of Linux administration experience.
Experience with containers (LXC, CGroups, Docker) is a strong plus
Experience using configuration management systems (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, CFEngine, etc.)
Experience operating large-scale distributed systems, on cloud and on-premise environments
Experience building cloud automation software in large scale environments
Experience configuring, troubleshooting, tuning JVM, Python, Node based systems
Hands-on scripting Know-how: Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.
System Administration experience with Production based Linux Apps.
Database skills including performance tuning, backups, high availability
Experience with Configuration Management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt stack
Experience with Monitoring Tools like Nagios, Ganglia, Graphite, Logstash
Experience with Webservers like Nginx, Apache, Tomcat
Working knowledge of Git, SVN and other Version Control Systems
Familiar with Continuous Integration tools like JenkinsWorking knowledge of Networking (pfSense, AWS VPC, SSL, IPsec, VPN)
Experience using and managing Java/J2EE and Linux based servers.
Experience with version control systems such as subversion.
Experience with cloud based deployments. Production experience with AWS systems is a big plus
Experience with the design and deployment of large-scale infrastructure projects a big plus
Experience with RDBMS systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL etc)
Experience with NoSQL systems (Cassandra, HBase, etc.)
Experience with Monitoring systems like Nagios etc
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to organize and prioritize tasks
Comfortable in a start-up environment where innovation and change are the norm
