Manager - Corporate Finance @ KPMG | Drive value through strategic transactions
Passionate about M&A and corporate finance and ready to lead complex deals end-to-end?
We are looking for a Manager to join our Corporate Finance/M&A team in Bucharest. You will act as a trusted advisor to corporate and private clients, leading strategic transactions, providing financial and commercial insights, and contributing to the development of the team and our client relationships.

    The Blueprint of your Role:

    • GCA Family & Sub-family: Deal Advisory - Mergers and Acquisitions
    • Career Level: Level 4 - Manager 1

    Why join us?

    • Clarity (GCA): You have a well-defined career path. You'll know exactly where you stand and what steps you need to take to grow within the team.
    • Fair Evaluation (Korn Ferry): We don't rely on subjective opinions. We use a global methodology that helps you understand your potential and develop accordingly.
    • Smart Working: We try to automate repetitive processes as much as possible using data analytics tools, so we can focus on the things that actually matter.

    What will you actually do?

You will take full ownership of M&A projects, leading teams and deliverables across all phases of the transaction - from origination to closing - and acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders.

    Core responsibilities

    • Lead end-to-end M&A engagements: Manage buy-side and sell-side transactions from initial opportunity assessment through to signing and closing, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely execution.
    • Strategic advisory to clients: Advise corporates and private shareholders on strategic options (acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, capital raising), transaction structures and execution strategies.
    • Financial modeling & valuation: Oversee the development and review of detailed financial models (business plans, transaction models, LBOs, scenario analyses) and perform business valuations using accepted methodologies (DCF, market multiples, transaction comps).
    • Preparation of marketing materials: Lead the preparation and review of teasers, information memoranda, management presentations and other transaction-related documents that clearly articulate the equity story and investment case.
    • Data analysis & insights: Coordinate quantitative and qualitative analyses (historical performance, projections, KPIs, market and competitor analysis) to support client decision-making and negotiations.
    • Project & stakeholder management: Plan, coordinate and monitor project activities, manage workstreams and deadlines, and align internal and external stakeholders (client teams, investors, banks, legal, tax, due diligence advisors).
    • Client relationship management: Act as a trusted advisor and primary contact for client senior management, manage expectations, provide regular status updates and present findings, recommendations and deal options.
    • Risk, quality & compliance: Ensure that all deliverables and processes comply with KPMG's risk management, independence and quality standards, as well as relevant regulations and professional guidelines.

    Additional responsibilities

    • Team leadership & development: Lead, coach and mentor junior colleagues, provide on-the-job guidance and structured feedback, and support their technical and professional development.
    • Business development & origination support: Contribute to origination efforts through market and sector research, target/buyer screening, preparation of pitches and proposals, and participation in client meetings.
    • Knowledge sharing & practice development: Support the development of methodologies, tools and best practices within the Corporate Finance/M&A team and share knowledge across the broader Deal Advisory practice.

    Who are you?

You are a corporate finance / M&A professional who enjoys working on complex, high-impact transactions and combining analytical rigor with client-facing responsibility.

    Mindset & behaviors

    • Passionate & result-oriented: You are motivated by deal-making and tangible outcomes, focusing on delivering measurable value for clients.
    • Analytical & structured: You can break down complex business and financial issues into clear analyses, frameworks and recommendations.
    • Strategic thinker: You understand the broader strategic context of a transaction and can articulate options and implications to senior stakeholders.
    • Client-focused & collaborative: You build trust-based relationships, communicate clearly, and work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Accountable leader: You take ownership of projects, make decisions, manage risks and drive issues to resolution.
    • Ethical & reliable: You operate with integrity, respect confidentiality and uphold high professional standards.

    Experience & background

    • Typically 5-8 years of experience in M&A advisory, corporate finance, investment banking or transaction services.
    • Proven experience in M&A advisory, ideally within a Big Four or similar high-caliber professional services or financial institution environment.
    • Demonstrated track record of leading workstreams or smaller deals, with exposure to all key phases of the transaction lifecycle.
    • Advanced skills in financial modeling, data analysis and reporting, including building and reviewing complex Excel-based models.
    • Experience in team development and leadership, coordinating junior staff and managing project workloads.
    • Strong understanding of local and international accounting standards and how they impact transaction structures and valuations.

    Tools & methods

    • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word for financial analysis, presentations and documentation.
    • Familiarity with valuation techniques, financial databases and market research tools.
    • Comfortable working with large datasets and presenting insights in a clear, concise format.

    Communication & language

    • Fluent in Romanian and English, both written and spoken.
    • Able to explain complex financial and strategic concepts in clear, business-oriented language to non-specialists.
    • Strong presentation and negotiation skills, confident in client-facing settings.

    Nice to have

    • Enrollment in or completion of CFA, ACCA or other internationally recognized professional qualifications.
    • Experience with cross-border or multi-jurisdictional transactions.

    • Career Growth: Clear advancement opportunities within the Advisory practice, with exposure to diverse projects and industries.
    • Flexible Working: A flexible workplace and work environment that supports smart working and work-life balance.
    • Culture & Wellbeing: An internal culture that encourages you to follow your passions, various internal activities and events, plus benefits to support your health and wellbeing.
