Requirements

Your profile: You keep reinventing us.
Required Qualifications:
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in software development, including 3+ years in a technical leadership or management role.
Strong hands-on experience with modern web technologies and cloud architectures (e.g., Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, GCP).
Proven track record in leading agile teams and delivering complex, scalable web applications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - you inspire trust, clarity, and motivation in your team.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Experience with microservices architectures, CI/CD automation, and DevOps principles.
Experience managing distributed teams and collaborating across geographies.
Passion for building high-performing teams and fostering a positive engineering culture.

This position is located in Bucharest, Romania.
As an Engineering Manager (m/f/d) in our Bucharest office, you’ll play a key leadership role in driving technical excellence, team development, and innovation across our engineering organization. You will lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Your mission: empower teams to deliver scalable, high-quality digital solutions that bring the Tchibo customer experience to life.
In detail:
Leadership & People Development:
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, guiding them through technical challenges, career development, and continuous learning.
Technical Excellence:
Partner with architects and senior developers to define best practices, ensure clean code, and maintain high standards for reliability, scalability, and performance.
Delivery Ownership:
Ensure the successful delivery of projects across teams by fostering agile ways of working (SCRUM/KANBAN), managing priorities, and removing blockers.
Collaboration:
Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering Leaders to define product roadmaps and translate business goals into impactful technical solutions.
Innovation & Improvement:
Encourage experimentation and innovation through regular “Innovation Time” and contribute to building a culture of technical curiosity and excellence.
Strategic Contribution:
Support the establishment and growth of Tchibo TECH in Romania, helping shape the local engineering culture and aligning with Tchibo’s global tech vision.
