Group Leader PI Material - Tires

Job Description

Act as main interface to R&D and other PI plant groups. Keep an open and honest communication between R&D and the plant;

Be actively involved and fully engaged in the development process (ETO, X-compound, compound and processing trials) in order to industrialize efficiently and effectively;

Promote new technologies, materials and products in the plant;

Plan, organize, assign, review and evaluate work performance, training and development of staff

Ensure that plant PI Processes are optimized and interface correctly with internal and external customers

Ensure planning & manufacture of experimental materials, compounds and tires (ETO) with on time delivery and reports

Plan and coordinate raw material introductions with local and central purchasing

Monitors materials and compounds in limited production and initiate appropriate improvement activities.

Initiate risk assessment for new technologies and processes, when required.

Develop and manage departmental budget

Evaluate continuous improvement measures (quality, efficiency, etc.) and drive implementation in the plant

Initiate Value Leadership measures to improve the direct material and shared process costs according to the plant objectives

Utilize solid understanding of stakeholder requirements in order to provide operational support for new product lines and strategic growth plan of the company

Assess plant readiness in mixing area based on R&D requirements to provide inputs to investment planning and capacity development.

Provide technical support to production on performance relevant issues.

Maximise compound performance (Compound Excellence and Batch Release Index) through constant monitoring, improvement trial and recipe optimisation.

Supervise and manage projects related to industrialization and continuous improvement of materials and compounds.

University Degree in Chemical Engineering 

Detailed knowledge of manufacturing and R&D processes

Previous professional experience as PI Material Engineer, minimum 3 years
Advance system knowledge: GUTS Mat, MMS, CBS3, SAP, QDV
Specific product knowledge (compound specification, components Bill of Materials, raw material impact/benefit)
Compound guideline knowledge (central and plant guideline)

Leadership skills

Project management track record

Experience in successfully managing a change process

Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization

Knowledge of problem solving methods

Advanced English language skills
