You will experience an international work environment with lean management. The Peter Lang headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, are the central hub for management and administration. The rest of our team is based in continental Europe, Anglo-American regions, and Asia with offices in Berlin, New York, Oxford, Brussels, Chennai and supporting locations in Vienna, Warsaw, Istanbul and Madrid.
Requirements
We are looking for a Publishing Assistant to join us in supporting the preparation of our publishing projects for production. You will guide authors through manuscript preparation and submission, coordinate peer reviews, check manuscripts for quality, and keep project data accurate in our ERP system.
You will work closely with colleagues in various departments, and should have a proactive, critical-thinking approach to managing your work. Training and support will be given, but a self-starter approach is very welcome.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Near-native fluency in English preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- An understanding of academic publishing
- Organized and adaptive mindset
Desired Qualifications & Skills:
- Ideally a background in Humanities or Social science
- Proofreading and or copy-editing skills would be an advantage
Responsibilities
- Management of our publishing projects from post-acquisition to handover to production
- Guiding and helping our authors with manuscript submission
- Checking the submitted manuscript for quality and completeness
- Organization and coordination of peer reviews
- Entering and updating project data in our ERP system
- Coordination and effective communication with authors and internal stakeholder
