Role description
Junior Enterprise Application Engineer - Sys Admin focuses on developing technical skills and understanding the corporate technology landscape to achieve high-impact solutions. They assist in configuring, deploying, and maintaining enterprise applications [Tableau, Slack, DocuSign, DocuShare, JIRA, Confluence, Asana, etc] and infrastructure. Additionally, experience with SaaS applications is a plus. Contribute to the smooth operation of the enterprise, and supporting product implementations to aid colleagues' day-to-day tasks. Their responsibilities include designing and delivering technology solutions based on business requirements, deploying and monitoring code/configurations in production environments, troubleshooting system issues, and contributing to the team's engineering and operational practices.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
In the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of technology, this role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems. This roles demand a blend of technical acumen, critical thinking, and effective communication to maintain and enhance the reliability of our infrastructure and applications
- Automation and Toil Reduction: Awareness of the need to keep infrastructure current, reduce technical debt, and prepare for scaling. Experience in leveraging new technologies and automation to reduce costs and human labor.
- Continuous Quality and Process Improvement: Awareness of opportunities for process and system improvements. Experience in designing and implementing improvements to enhance business performance.
- Monitoring and Alerting Improvements: Awareness of the need to continuously monitor production systems and network infrastructure. Ability to improve application reliability by setting appropriate observability metrics.
- Production Systems Best Practices: Ability to secure production systems and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards. Experience in documenting system architecture and writing runbooks to reduce the impact of live production issues.
- Architectural Guidance: Awareness of non-functional requirements and networking concepts. Ability to advise on technical solutions that meet functional and architectural requirements.
- Mentoring and Coaching: Awareness and experience in mentoring, coaching, and guiding colleagues to improve overall performance by sharing knowledge and approaches to work.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to identify patterns and underlying issues in complex situations and find solutions through logical and analytical thinking.
- Effective Communication: Experience in delivering clear and meaningful information to a target audience using suitable communication mediums. Ability to achieve mutually agreeable solutions through adaptable communication and active listening.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
- Computer Science (or related field) degree and 1-3 years of relevant work experience
- Basic knowledge with scripting languages such as: Python, Bash, etc.
- Relevant experience with Enterprise Applications (e.g. JIRA, Tableau, Slack, DocuSign, DocuShare, Confluence, Trello, Asana, etc)
- Excellent English communication (written and spoken) skills
