L3 VDI Engineer
Role Profile
Department Description
Digital Operations, responsible for delivering the EUC roadmap, strategy, industry standards with assurance that EUC programme and BAU delivery is aligned.
Team Description
VDI Infrastructure Team, responsible for engineering, support, and administration of all Group VDI Infrastructure.
Role Description
The L3 VDI Engineer a meaningful role within EUC, will have a Quality Assurance mindset ensuring that End Users get the best experience possible.
Working closely with Technology teams and associated leads to ensure the VDI Platform is operating at efficient levels with effective monitoring and in place, Ensuring the VDI environments and gold images are constantly updated to ensure that we meet our security obligations following a strict product lifecycle.
Providing technical expertise for the migration of users to MS Azure / AWS Cloud environments and the implementation of new services run by the EUC team.
The role will involve Design, Analysis, implementation of industry standards implementation and Roadmap delivery, supporting the fixing of issues through all end user services layers and management of the various VDI products used within LSEG.
Understanding and validating any user migration processes and resolving any issues encountered during or after migrations.
Key Responsibilities
Successfully run and deliver project aspects.
- Strategy & Roadmap design and delivery capability
- VDI Optimisation & Issue Resolution - Including Patching and Gold Image Management
- Citrix management and products configuration management
- O365 Optimisation experience
- Network Layer understanding and engagement
- Third party (Microsoft FastTrack) product engagement and guidance/governance
- Resolving any issues arising from or after migration
Provision of appropriate documentation and controls
- Ensure all activities are completed effectively and in accordance with Change Lifecycle and adoption of company project methodology. Responsibilities include: change control including Software and Operating systems updates, maintenance of files, document control, actual data collection and forecasting, updating of plans, administration of quality reviews, meetings support, minute taking and standards reporting.
- Ensure completion and appropriate storage of all documentation.
- Ensure completion of weekly Status Update Report
Client Liaison
- Liaise where required with IT & Business colleagues in order to assist with the dissemination of information to external clients as appropriate.
Team Responsibilities
Project team management
- Work and cooperate with Management and Technical Leaders on the vital performance metrics for the delivery of any associated Work Packages.
- Exercise sound leadership skills in all dealings with project members and non-project stakeholders including but not limited to the skills of: influencing, negotiating, conflict resolution, performance enhancement, and error correction.
- Ensure assigned staff are aware of their responsibilities within any active project, and provide input where applicable for assignment reviews on completion Project Activities.
- Attend Change Management Committee and Change Acceptance Board along with Project & Development Managers post testing and pre Go-Live to promote changes.
- Interface where applicable with Development & Test Managers, in order to identify and agree the pinch points for delivery. (What are the support expectations during development & test phases).
- Strives to build positive working relationships, inside & outside own team. Treats all colleagues with respect and encourages colleagues to work effectively together. Willing to take on additional work to help others.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills
- Extensive Product/Project Lifecycle understanding of VDI Technologies and proven track record of managing a VDI Estate using Citrix PVS, Azure and Vmware Products
- Expert Design and Roadmap delivery capabilities
- Extensive knowledge of Exchange and Office 365 architecture
- Extensive knowledge of Office 365 migration tools and technologies
- Strong PowerShell skills
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory migrations
- A solid understanding of TCP/IP network concepts and network trouble-shooting
- Experience in maintaining systems in enterprise class data centre environment
