Java Development Lead

The project

• Refinitiv FX Aggregator allows Forex trading on Pricestream, Matching and Orderbook venues enabling seamless access to liquidity. It allows a flexible choice of venue and execution management options to trade forex.
• The Aggregator is used by the leading world banks and traders across the globe, it's a great honour and responsibility to serve our customers.
• The Aggregator Java software is running on hundreds of servers in data centres in United Stated, Europe and Asia providing customers access to market prices in milliseconds.

Responsibilities

Our development team is providing end to end support for Aggregator application, from design and development to maintenance and support of the existing product including the timely investigation of customer issues. While most of the time our developers plan they work with scrum process they are also ready to jump in to investigate urgent QA and Production issues.

o Working as a technical lead in the Global Development team to implement new functionality in FX trading platform.

o Participating in project/work planning sessions with team members and product managers to analyze requirements, estimate effort, and break down tasks.

o Designing, developing, and documenting applications solutions.

o Modifying existing applications, components, libraries, and modules.

o Taking part in code reviews and reviewing the work of colleagues.

o Support dev/ops teams with system maintenance tasks and tools that facilitate unattended upgrading, fall back, patching, etc.

o Support QA team in design and implementation for automated testing.

o 3rd level support, including troubleshooting on production systems, occasionally requiring the candidate to be "on-call" outside of normal business hours.

o Builds and defines learning and development plans for teams and individuals o Demonstrates depth of knowledge and expertise in software development and is regarded as the subject matter expert in their domain. Develops knowledge of other domains to understand linkages and dependencies.

o Understands the tech strategy and culture, and how they impact own work as well as adjacent teams.

o Develops an understanding of the market and LSEG's commercial position in it.

o Leads the delivery of important projects, supporting team members to be productive with little direction; delegating and reviewing work when required.

o Works with architects to decompose a solution into Epics

o Leads design work and planning for Epics breaking them down to stories with product owners and quality leads.

o Adapts existing patterns to develop robust solutions.

Requirements

o Min 8 years experience, expert level design and programming with recent Java versions, including development of multi-tier and event driven microservice based systems

o Deep knowledge of high-performance programming in Java and performance optimization techniques (i.e., GC tuning

o Experience of message-driven architectures such as Kafka, Tibco, Solace

o Knowledge of approaches to ensure resilient operation of distributed systems, including recovery, failover, redundancy, and related principles

o Experienced developing software for real time, low latency distribution systems

o Experience with middleware, preferred Kafka, Tibco, RabbitMQ

o Experienced with cloud infrastructure, Containerization & Kubernetes. (Azure preferred)

o Experienced with Agile methodologies and leading Agile teams

o Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills

o Strong OOAD skills

o Self-motivated, co-operative team player, ability to work with global teams

o Good communication skills, including written and spoken English

o Ability to work at a senior technical level with minimal supervision

o Significant experience in a Software development and delivery role

o Some experience of Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, delivery management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance

o Moderate stakeholder and people management experience.

Bonus skills

o Experience developing Trading Platform.

o Experience with NOSQL, preferred Redis, MongoDB.

o Experience implementing automated testing solutions.

o Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines
