Category Manager PE for Standard electronic equipment (TM)

Job Description

The Category Purchaser is actively supporting the Continental locations in the definition of the supply strategy and negotiation with suppliers to achieve best commercial conditions for Continental.

Responsibilities: 

• Individual responsibility of a Production Equipment Category for the development, design and implementation of the global supplier strategy;
• Procurement of machines and production equipment for all business area within Continental Automotive;
• Match the demand with the strategy and identify the right supplier panel along with the internal customers;
• Definition, implementation and adaptation of global and regional sourcing strategies;
• Individual completion of negotiations and preparation of contract documents for major projects;
• Evaluation of contractual risks and consulting of the internal decision makers;
• Bring about the award decision as well as ensuring the necessary documents and auditable documentation of the relevant contract and sourcing documents;
• Evaluation, comparison and selection of strategic suppliers under various criteria, as well as identification of alternative suppliers;
• Evaluation of risk controlling results for existing and potential new suppliers;
• Conduct supplier audits;
• Establish and maintain the relationship with the strategic suppliers;
• Functional leadership of the respective Category Purchaser in the regions;
• Implementation and responsibility of global procurement market analysis for new technology fields;
• Ensure the Supply chain in the context of the supplier management within an interdisciplinary team;
• Ensuring transparency of results by means of reporting and control of prescribed information and figures.

• Academic degree in Economics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or comparable;
• Long term working experience within Purchasing or Industrial Engineering Internal;
• Profound experience in the automotive industry required;
• Intercultural competences and first experiences in an international business environment;
• English - business fluent (written and spoken);
• German is a plus;
• Independent, structured and analytical way of working;
• Assertiveness, team spirit and drive, flexibility.
