HW Wireless Engineer

About the Role

As a HW Wireless Engineer you will focus on Hardware development of Bluetooth and WLAN for automotive infotainment computer systems, telematic units, wireless modules and other automotive products.

Your Team

You will work in the global Short Device Team and report to team leader. The team is responsible for Hardware Design of Short Range Devices like Bluetooth, WLAN, V2X and UWB in automotive systems and products. The SDR team is an international team and is located in Germany, Romania, USA and China.

What You Will Do

• You will be responsible for Bluetooth and WLAN HW, but also support colleges in V2X and UWB topics.
• Development, test and verification of Radio Frequency, analog and digital functional blocks (e.g. RF Front End, power supplies, digital interfaces of a wireless SoC) under considering of quality, cost and suitability for series
• Test and analysis of application and driver software in infotainment computer systems / telematic units with the aim to ensure correct functionality and required performance of device.
• Creation of measurement reports and technical documentation
• Creating schematic and support/co-working in layout
• Measurement of RF parameters
• Bring-up of wireless devices e.g. BT/WLAN including driver and environment programs / tools
• preparation worldwide homologation including documentation
• investigation of HW/homologation/performance issues
• Investigation of current BT/WLAN designs for cost saving opportunities
• Evaluation of requirements and feasibility as well as the assistance in System Design / integration in functional unit
• Assisting in the technical requirements specification of purchased parts of telematics & connectivity functional blocks and in the evaluation and selection of suitable supplier
• Knowledge in Linux as well as Linux and Windows command shell programming and shell debugging
• Knowledge of commonly used interfaces in BT/WLAN systems (PCIe, UART, TDM, I2C, I2S, USB, SDIO) appreciated
• Global cooperation with other departments as Construction, Quality, Manufacturing and Software during the development process
• Maintenance support
• Technical support for internal and/or external staff in the industrialization of function items in an international environment

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or appropriate graduation)
• 2 up to 5 years professional experience in the Radio Frequency development and/or Bluetooth / WLAN HW verification of analog/digital applications and standalone functional unit
• Knowledge of Hardware and Software Technology, ideally in embedded area
• Basic knowledge of programming software (i.e. C#,  Matlab, Script languages)
• Knowledge of tools for schematic/layout realization and simulation (e.g. Mentor Graphics, ADS, SPICE, Ansys) as well as Microsoft applications
• Basic antenna knowledge
• Basic knowledge of operating systems (i.e. Linux, Android)
• Good knowledge in spoken and written English

• Networking knowledge
• Experiences in USA/EU/worldwide Homologation of wireless devices

• Be willing to travel domestic and international
• Be willing to work in an office / home office in Bucharest
