    Client Description:

    Test Design Support Engineer

     

    Purpose Statement: Provide functional test equipment support services to Plexus manufacturing facilities.

     

    Key Job Accountabilities:

    ·      Provide field service for automated functional test equipment, including repair and maintenance.

    ·      a. Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software problems. Work diligently to minimize down time.

    ·      b. Update and release tester hardware, software, and design documentation to accommodate Engineering Change Orders. Perform incremental tester design verification and validation and update associated documentation.

    ·      Install new testers. Provide startup support and operator training.

    ·      Develop test systems and fixtures that satisfy the customer’s requirements.

    ·      Develop and execute design verification and validation procedures to ensure the implementation meets the intended uses and design requirements,

    ·      Report Status to the project manager in an accurate and concise manner so that the project manager can manage the schedule and budget.

     

    Additional Accountabilities:

    ·      Promote proper preventative maintenance practices within manufacturing sites.

    ·      Provide test equipment support during manufacturing process validation.

    ·      Participate in test design group meetings to stay current with tester design practices. Provide field input to design engineers.

    ·      Understand and follow established quality procedures so as to maintain tester design trace-ability.

    ·      Work collaboratively with Test Project Managers, customers and manufacturing facility staff as needed to understand and clarify support task objectives

    ·      Communicate issue status to Test Project Managers, Site Test Managers, and customers in a proactive manner.

    ·      Respond positively to changes in task scope so that Plexus TG remains agile and highly focused on customer needs.

    ·      Identify and offer suggestions for process improvement so as to improve quality and/or reduce cost.

    ·      Assume a high degree of responsibility for assigned tasks.

    ·      Possess excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

    ·      Stay current with relevant technologies and procedures.

    ·      Frequent travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (<50%). Travel on same day or next day notice.

    ·      Drive and/or be involved in process improvement activities.

    ·      Lead best practices for support. Help drive those best practices with the rest of the support engineers stationed throughout the Plexus sites.

    ·      Mentor new support engineers.

    ·      Participate in the recruiting efforts of support engineers.

    ·      Acknowledges and complies with the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards provided in the procedures and instructions that are specific to each field, documentation that underlies the proper functioning of the integrated management system of quality, environment, safety and occupational health.

    ·      Additional duties as assigned by management.

     

    Education/Experience Qualifications:

    ·      A minimum of a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology is required for this position;

    ·      Suggested minimum of 4 years equivalent industry experience is required for this position assuming education requirements are met.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.


    Other Qualifications: 

    ·      Intermediate Computer Skills

    ·      Intermediate Decision making, Problem Solving Skills

    ·      Intermediate Verbal and Written Communication Skills

    ·      Possess strong analytical skills and good knowledge of electronics components.

    ·      Possess good programming skills. (C++, LabVIEW, Lab Windows CVI, and HP-VEE desirable)

    ·      Possess understanding of structured design.

    ·      Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

     

    Work Environment:

    ·      The work setting should consist of an office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a low noise level.
