Software Development Engineer

About the role We are looking for a strong Java developer to design and program complex software application using latest technologies for cloud platforms. Should have skills to design and develop high performing, resilient, fault tolerant and robust software applications applying latest standards using agile methodologies. Should be capable of troubleshooting complex interactions between software components in timely manner. Responsibilities: Writes new software, makes modifications to existing software, or integrates software applications and modules in accordance with agreed upon specifications, created in partnership with others Creates and executes unit testing and integration testing ensuring software meets requirements Contributes to the creation of design May lead the design of less complex components Will provide technical support to operations or other development teams Creates, reviews, and maintains all required technical documentation/ manual related to assigned software to ensure supportability and reuse Reviews work of peers and more junior developers Provides wider feedback into performance Assists in identification and implementation of short-term and long-term solution options, including risk assessments Assists with improvements to prevent problems, including problem resolution workflow. Participates in remediation solutions Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyse development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work Provides work breakdown and estimates for small software development tasks Provides timely status updates for areas of individual responsibilities within projects to supervisor Actively participates in team and status meetings Demonstrates software as requested Develops software using disciplined software development processes, adhering to team/company standards and software best practice guidelines, and corporate policies Scope of Impact : Leads routine projects with manageable risks and resource requirements Provides input to department objectives and goals of a sub-Business Unit or function May contribute cost optimized solutions with better performance that suites the requirements Advises middle management on functional matters, or on interpretation of policies and practices May train or mentor other team members Strategic Planning & Decision Making: Makes recommendations that may shape operational strategy Determines the nature of complex or undefined problems; independently identifies the best solution from many alternatives Escalates higher risk or more unique problems Decisions require interpretive thinking and some judgment in developing solutions Experience and skills Required: Experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of Software development in Java language on cloud platforms like AWS Provides and acts as a subject matter expertise across sub-units Strong understanding of other roles within the function or Business Unit and how they are connected Knowledge of relationships between all relevant groups within the company Adapts traditional approaches to solutions and applies in different circumstances Demonstrates mastery of understanding complex software development skills across a range of related issues Nice to have: C++ We are looking for intellectually curious people, passionate about the bigger picture of how technology industry is evolving, ready to ask difficult questions and deal with complicated scenarios.
