    Job Summary:

    The successful candidate will join the Bucharest Legal Support Center (LSC) and, under the supervision of a Team Lead and the Legal Support Center Manager, will assist with the provision of legal assistance and advice in support of operations in Schlumberger’s Europe & Africa markets. Scope of work includes customer contracts, supplier contacts, corporate administration, and general legal matters relevant to a large multinational oilfield services company.


    Location: this role is based in Bucharest, Romania. The employee will be hired in Romania with compensation and benefits competitive within the Romanian legal market.


    Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

    The LSC scope of work covers contracts review and drafting (both customer and supplier contracts) as well as general legal support, including implementation of the company’s ethics and compliance program, legal knowledge management, disputes and litigation, and corporate legal tasks.

    • Initial duties will most likely pertain to supporting customer and supplier contract review, drafting, and negotiation.
    • Other duties may include support for day-to-day legal tasks assigned by Schlumberger’s geographic Legal Counsels;
    • The employee will also:
      • participate in Legal Department training and development initiatives and complete all assigned trainings;
      • become familiar with and use all Legal Department systems and tools and contribute to the legal knowledge management systems used by the company;
      • support implementation of workflows, processes, procedures, practices, guidelines, playbooks, and templates.
    Experience and Key Competencies:
    • Degree in Law
    • Exceptional academic scores and/or 1 to 3 years’ work experience in Contracts/ Legal Departments/ Law Firm capacity
    • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
    • Proficiency in another language is considered a plus
    • Competent in Microsoft Office Packages
    • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with peers, subordinates and stakeholders
    • Ability to proactively organize a heavy workload and demonstrate excellent analytical abilities
    • Good interpersonal skills and adaptability and a practical approach to problem-solving
    • Cultural sensitivity, ability to compromise, and ability to work within a team
    • A business or financial background is helpful but not mandatory
    • Resourceful, disciplined and have initiative
    • Other positive traits include a desire for an internationally mobile career, willingness to live overseas for extended periods, and ability to learn and work hard
    • This position is intended for a newly legally qualified candidate. Training will be provided, and a learning curve is expected.
