Director of Strategic Purchasing - Automotive industry

For our client, a world leader in the design and manufacturing equipment for the automotive industry, with presence in more than 20 countries on 4 continents and having 40+ production sites across the globe, we are hiring Director of Strategic Purchasing.

In this role, you will lead a team of Strategic Buyers and their performance in accordance with the purchasing policy of the Group, while you will also be responsible for the direct strategic purchases and suppliers in connection with the activities of the Air&Cooling, Filtration and Suspension business units.

Required Skills and Expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or business-related discipline, with a specialization in Purchasing
- 3-5 years of experience within an industrial context
- Automotive industry knowledge and European network into the purchasing community
- 3-5 years of experience in a Manager role
- focus on results and financial performance, collaborative approach
- excellent communicator and skilled negotiator with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities
- drive for solving dynamic and complex challenges, proactive and self-motivated
- advanced level of English is mandatory, French speaking is an asset
- availability for regular business trips to suppliers and company’s locations (incl. abroad)

Main Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Group Purchasing Director, you will be in charge with the strategic commodities & strategic key account suppliers. Your goal is simple: through and with the company’s supply base, you must maintain the competitiveness, the profitability, the operational performance and cash generation, while managing an annual spend of EUR 500 million.

You will use your finest management and leadership skills to drive your team who will support you into:
- managing competitivity of the supply base
- increasing the bundle of purchases on strategic contracts
- handling all negotiation with defined suppliers
- updating/ generating of global contractual agreements
- constantly monitoring the benchmark of the company’s pricing level
- providing market intel to the performance leader and so the organisation’s global community
- setting and updating the supplier and purchasing strategy roadmap on a quarterly basis
- continuously supporting and providing feedback and direction for cost analysis for new projects
- suggesting continuous growth stimulation through supplier partnership and constantly supporting purchasing innovation roadmap
- effectively and efficiently managing the activities towards reaching the organisation’s business goals
