    The Capital Markets business within the London Stock Exchange Group is responsible for the providing Exchange trading systems for the customers. This role is sits within the Application Engineering team in the technology division within Capital Markets. The responsibility of the team is to engineer monitoring and automation solutions for the trading platforms.

    The role is for a DevOps engineer within the Application Engineering team. The engineer's responsibilities will include developing the infrastructure and automation to operate a new, clustered monitoring platform running within AWS, and to maintain other automated monitoring/alerting solutions within Capital Markets.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modern automation tooling and processes such as Ansible, Terraform and Jenkins, as well as experience maintaining clustered applications (ideally Elasticsearch). Additionally, the candidate should be experienced in owning issues through to completion by working proactively with project teams.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Build code to provision the full stack from infrastructure through to application
    • Work closely with project teams to ensure operational requirements are met and changes impacted and implemented
    • Integrate the application into the operations architecture such as ServiceNow and Control-M
    • Build CI/CD pipelines to orchestrate the promotion of code
    • Ensure that all operational responsibilities are performed including monitoring systems and deploying releases
    • Write and maintain support documentation, technical specifications and user guides.
    • Support development changes, providing accurate estimates for time and capital costs, attending project meetings and analysing impact for proposed project work and meeting deadlines
    • Provide effective escalation and resolution of issues and problems to stakeholders
    • Proactively identify and raise operational risks and technical debt. Provide short term solutions whilst tracking long term resolution.
    • Proactively identify and implement operational improvements for processes, performance and reliability
    • Develop an understanding of procedures and SLA/SLO/SLI's for all services supported by the team.
    • Provide Level 2 technical advice and risk assessment based on knowledge of applications, databases and system software
    • Identify and implement operational improvements for processes, performance and reliability

    • Invoke level 3 support requests, manage their progression and provide input from an operational perspective
    Candidate Background and SkillsetKey Skills
    • Experience with provisioning, automation and CI/CD tools and processes such as Jenkins, Ansible and Terraform
    • Strong background in Linux administration and coding/scripting experience (BASH/Shell)
    • Experience handling large volumes of structured and unstructured data in terms of storage choices such as S3, RedShift, S3 Glacier
    • Strong background developing and provisioning clustered applications
    • Git source control using Bitbucket or equivalent
    • Experience with AWS - EC2, S3, Lambda, Route53, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM
    • Experience with security best practices for data at rest and data in-transit using AWS tools such as SSE-KMS, security policies, cryptographic protocols
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven ability to share information and work individually or as part of a team to solve problems
    • Understating of computer networks and underlying protocols
    • Pro-active approach to learning about and adapting to new technologies
    • Experience monitoring cloud applications (e.g. Datadog, Elasticsearch)
    Preferred Skills
    • Experience of best practises to support always-on mission critical systems
    • Appreciation of the business processes and their importance
    • Knowledge of agile software development and DevOps philosophies
    • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
    • Experience with Python
