    Required Professional and Technical Expertise
    • Linux scripting (bash, python)
    • Operating Systems development skills (incl. memory management, locking, process scheduling)
    • Code repository systems (git/github)
    • Interested in integrating systems for building complex test automation solutions
    • Interested in debugging failing test cases in collaboration with test and development teams
    • Open Mindset for learning about automation frameworks (e.g. Ansible)
    • Linux Operating System skills
    • Exposure to Open Source

    Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
    • Linux test automation engineer
    • System integration testing with CI/CD
    • Test automation with Jenkins or other CI/CD technologies
    • IBM z architecture knowledge, I/O architecture skills General System Z skills (concepts like LPARs, IPL methods, networking & storage options etc.)
    • Scripting with Groovy (or Java)
    • System Z architecture & assembler skills
    • Specific skills/interests
    • Kernel Virtual Machine (KVM) skills (incl. QEMU, libvirt) or
    • Basic skills of security and cryptographic concepts & frameworks or
    • Basic networking technology skills (incl. RDMA, software-defined Networks) or
    • Filesystem & storage skills (incl. block layer, distributed filesystems & software-defined Storage) or
    • Basic compiler technology skills (gcc, llvm)


    Our Linux team is responsible for testing and developing new features and functions
    for Linux on IBM Z. This includes the Linux kernel, device drivers, libraries, tools,
    compilers, debuggers, container, and virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM). Our
    team works in close collaboration with the Open-Source Community, with the
    worldwide IBM development team and the Linux Distribution Partners.
