Software Tester - manual

Adecco Permanent Placement & Executive Search is looking for its client, a leading multinational company in the financial industry, for a Software Tester, in Bucharest. 

The Software Tester works as a member of the QA team and reports to the QA Test Manager. The person is responsible for the creation of test strategy and test plan documents for projects and changes, the selection of test methodology applicable for each change, and the preparation and execution of test scripts. The Software Tester will define test exit criteria and will make recommendations relating to Go/No Go calls. The Software Tester will report on test progress and will cooperate with vendors.
As part of a larger team, the Software Tester will work with QA Managers, Analysts and Developers to understand solution requirements and assist in the development of test strategies and plans utilizing best test practices to ensure continuous improvement of quality standards in software development.

You will be responsible for:

• Creation of test strategies, test plans and test scenarios for the purpose of delivering product verification in line with quality parameters and business requirements
• Coordination of UAT testers, with responsibility for work schedule management and project phase entry/exit criteria
• Company representation in meetings with vendors’ developers, analysts and testers. Agreement of next steps, with acceptance or rejection of test results
• Preparation and execution of manual scripts.
• Cooperation with the business on quality standards for projects, where applicable, with development of detailed solutions
• Identification of any gaps in process and system knowledge and preparation of associated improvement plans
• Preparation of progress reports, with recommendations on next steps, and decisions about defect opening / closure
• Definition of entry/exit criteria for each test phase and creation of the test executive summary report (final report)
• Identification and description of risks relating to adjustments during the test phase and manage costs of change
• Preparation and maintenance of technical documentation (test cases, results, bug repository, code version control)
• Knowledge transfer to service team for tested products or new solutions
• Analysis of BAU topics and production bugs, with testing of bug-fixes
• Preparation of QA documentation (e.g. Application test strategy)

• 1+ years’ tester experience
• Degree or equivalent level of qualification

• Effective management of delivery risks and issues
• The ability to deliver to agreed standards in an environment where a number of parties may be shipping software, to be unified through test
• Agile development techniques and Project management (SCRUM, KANBAN etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with individuals (internal and external) at all levels
• The ability to apply coaching techniques that will lead to increased team and individual performance
• Effective communication skills – including the ability to give feedback, influence and effective presentation skills
• Use of test management tools like JIRA and Confluence
• Very good English verbal and written communication skills

• You will hold a strong knowledge of testing principles, practices, techniques and tools
• You will understand proficiently, all phases of the project lifecycle
• You will have a modern knowledge of the IT industry and its ways of working, ideally within the financial services
• You will have knowledge of mobile applications, enterprise service bus and integration with back end product engine  
• ISTQB standards
• Test management tools like xRay

• You will be experienced in leading testing of multiple changes in a complex environment, ideally operating in an international environment
• You will have managed external supplier activity
• You will have experience of each element of the testing lifecycle including Unit Test, System Test, Integration Testing & User Acceptance Testing
• You will be experienced in Agile/incremental delivery testing practices and processes
• Leading test teams in a matrix environment
