Data Solutions for Capital Markets Technology team provide data solutions for the Capital Markets business. The team is comprised of Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), Business Intelligence and Front-End teams, Application Development (App Dev) teams, a Solution Architect and Quality Assurance. The team works as a collective to craft and build valuable data solutions for Capital Markets business.

The CDW Products team is responsible for delivering critical business logic such as billing and regulation requirements and data analytics requirements for BI reporting for the UK Equity, Derivatives Markets, Turquoise (pan-European Equity Markets) and Foreign Exchange.

The team is in charge with providing an AWS cloud-based data factory (Kafka, EMR, Spark and Flink). The cloud data warehouse is Snowflake with Matillion as ELT tool.

Key Responsibilities

To carry out the following key tasks as a Senior Developer within the CDW Development team:

• Reporting into the Team lead, the Senior Data Warehouse Developer‘s main responsibility is to assist the Product Manager / team lead with the design, development and maintenance of the data warehouse and related data transformation;

• Work with the Business Analysts, Java Developers, End Users, DevOps, BI developers and QA teams when appropriate;

• Deliver technical documents such as Technical Designs, Specifications, Users Guides;

• Design, Development and maintenance of Data Warehouse storage and transformation using Snowflake and Matillion;

• Take shared responsibility for all database support, development and administrative work to;

• Provide FX Data warehouse functionalities (Snowflake);

• Use ETL (Matillion);

• Develop and maintain SQL code on Snowflake;

• Develop and maintain good coding standards;

• Provide Database Warehouse expertise and support to the team members;

• Develop and extend database functionality to support current and future business needs;

• Maintain and handle data feeds and work with business users to improve data flow into and out of the Data Warehouse;

• Build improvements in existing code and systems to improve efficiencies;

• Be able to understand and develop Java code is a big bonus;

• Provide daily support to business functions.

Candidate Profile

Required Skills

• A minimum of 5 years design, performance tuning, development and experience with data warehouse and ETL technology (Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake etc);

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

• Experience of the whole development life cycle: requirements, design, development, testing;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with other team members, QA teams and internal business partners;

• Be able to guide junior developers.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of cloud database and ETL technologies such as Snowflake or Matillion;

• 1-2 years Python or Java experience;

• Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools for data analysis and report generation (e.g. Business Objects, Data Visualisation);

• Experience with agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum and full SDLC experience;

• Experience with source control management systems, continuous integration/deployment environments, and release management.
