Code11 is looking for Jr. DevOps Engineer / Jr. SRE

Employer: Code11
  • IT Software
  • Job type: full-time
Job level: 1 - 5 years of experience
  • Updated at: 27.09.2021
    Short company description

code11 was established in 2011, out of a desire to break away from how outsourced development was made. In a time when the Agile manifesto was still young, we embraced being agile, delivering fast, doing things incrementally.

We decided we would deliver more than just development; we would become an innovation powerhouse that provides our partners with a full-delivery ecosystem.

Today we apply and offer this way of work on all aspects of digital business development. We work with aspiring entrepreneurs and corporate enterprises in the European Union to turn the best business ideas into secure and compliant disruptive technology platforms, looking to solve today’s challenges and enable tomorrow’s technology.

In code11 each person is given the power and the responsibility to make important decisions, moves and mistakes. We trust, empower, and support the team to steer projects in the right direction and take ownership of decisions.

We encourage all team members to adopt a T-shaped, if not star-shaped view towards their own careers. All code11 team members are encouraged to be multi-disciplinary and bring a contribution in all stages of a product, from idea down to support. At the same time, we ask all team members to hone their skills, know their circle of competence, and use the right tool for the job.

Regarding the technologies that we use, at code11 we believe that there are many ways to skin the cat (so to speak), therefore we’re treating the technology as a tool. Just like you wouldn’t use a hammer to drive screws or a screwdriver to hammer in nails, you need the right tool for the job.

As a Jr.DevOps/Jr. SRE, you should have a passion for tackling challenges across a spectrum of technologies. Previous experience in a similar role as a part of a software development organization is preferred but not mandatory.

Within this new and varied role, you will be joining a friendly and inspiring team of developers and DevOps specialists and you will be working as a bridge between the R&D team, the Service Desk team, and our long-standing partner on one of code11’s most technical projects.

Our app is in active development, so practicing sustainable incident response with our partners is just as important as building new features and services. You will spend most of your time owning the incident management pipeline, using DevOps principles and observability to fix problems. You will also get to develop tools & automation for the team to use, and build a resilient system for our team and partner.

You are someone whose experience matches with most of the following skills:

1-2 years of software development or experience supporting complex applications (SaaS preferred) in the Cloud
1 year of experience working with cloud providers Azure/AWS/GoogleCloudPlatform
Experience working with at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g. Python, NodeJS, Java, .NET)
Experience with source control software (e.g. git)
Knowledge of container orchestration frameworks and container management (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Amazon EKS)
Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle) or NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB, ArangoDB etc.)
Basic networking knowledge (virtual private networks, subnets, DNS configurations, SSL certificates, etc.)
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS Cloudformation), CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity, Bitbucket pipelines, Gitlab pipelines, etc.)
1+ years experience with ticketing management solution and source control (e.g. Remedy/Jira ServiceDesk/Zendesk)

    And the following abilities:

Desire to learn and improve (growth-minded)
    Autonomous and proactive attitude
    Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    High attention to detail
Customer-focused and generally empathic towards team members, CODE11 clients, and partners
Ability to communicate and adapt language to the listener, both written and verbal
    Flexibility, adaptability, responsibility, and accountability
Consistent in speaking up and presenting your ideas

    SLA Management:

Troubleshoot priority incidents, fixing bugs, enhancing the platform performance, and implementing feature requests where necessary
Working through (developer) service issues and communicating in a professional and timely manner
Facilitate blameless post-mortems and ensure permanent closure of incidents

Oversee system infrastructure, including implementing and managing to monitor, fixing, testing, and maintaining services, application software, and system management tools
