Key Activities The role of the Release Planner is critical to the planning and execution of the Release Management Process and governance. The purpose of the Release Planner will be to plan, manage, and coordinate all changes to the production environment by individual releases.

    • The releases would include the deployment of the Business Initiatives, Enhancements, SAP Deployments, Maintenance Window, and potential non-SAP deployments and special projects
    • The Release Planner will be responsible for the successful completion of all the release management related activities. This includes:
      • Scope identification, requirements gathering from Tech Ops and Digital Technology and Engineering (DTE) POCs, collaboration with Security, Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE), and BASIS teams, release container preparation, oversee implementation of changes to production, and post implementation support
    • Release Planner will not be responsible for implementing the developments and changes themselves, but they must ensure that each activity is completed to plan
    • Release Planner will rely on many individuals and teams in and outside of the Tech Ops organization to execute the details and report back the status
    • Assures compliance with defined Change Control Policies and Procedures
    • Responsible for release management coordination, and adherence to quality standards
    • System administrative activities when required
    • Ad-hoc and standard reporting of sensitive content
    • Participates in internal and external audits
    • All other duties assigned as necessary
    Release Schedules (30%):
    • Develop, define and maintain the release schedule and ensure alignment across all teams and impacted business units
    • Maintain and communicate the detailed plan for each release
    • Demonstrates creativity in defining solutions
    Metrics (15%):
    • Identify, track, and report key:
    • release metrics (e.g. testing progress vs plan, etc.)

    Reviews (35%):
    • Conduct milestone date activity reviews, release readiness reviews, and release go/no-go reviews as required
    • Ensure all required release documentation and milestones are completed prior to the formal Release Approval
    Status Updates (5%)
    • Prepare and distribute:
    • Status updates as needed
    • Monthly release summaries
    Go Live Activities (5%) – Major Deployments/Projects
    • Lead and co-ordinate the go-live activities including:
    • The execution of the deployment plans and checklists
    • Tracking of any post-release issues
    Maintains a release repository (5%)
    • Maintains a release repository and key information including, but not limited to:
    • Build and release procedures
    • Dependencies
    • Notification lists
    • Weekly project status updates
    • Metrics
    Post-Implementation (5%)
    • Performs post-implementation process reviews and recommends process improvements when noted

    Qualifications
    • Familiar with the Service NOW (SNOW) tool Change and Release modules
    • Strong knowledge of SAP change management and system landscape
    • General understanding Global Supply Chain Business Processes
    • Experience managing multiple projects or months of enhancements with various levels of scope and responsibility
    • Experience managing/ collaborating with a large group or department locally and globally
    • Experience in influencing others to follow processes in order to achieve expected results
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing of methodologies and strategic plans
    • Demonstrates strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
    • Demonstrates the ability to lead, collaborate and motivate
    • Professional and effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to schedule, identify participants, and facilitate meetings with a small or large audience regardless of professional rank
