Early Childhood Educator

In 2019 Acton Academy Bucharest joined the global network of schools sharing the vision and standards of the first Acton Academy founded in 2009 in Texas. Our mission is to inspire each person who enters our doors to find a calling that will change the world. We are a private micro-school and learner-driven community. We combine elements of the Montessori method with Socratic guiding, hands-on experiential quests and interactive technology. At Acton, we have mixed-aged classrooms called studios with a self-paced learning design as opposed to grade-levels. We don't teach, we help learners find the right tools to achieve their learning goals; therefore, we have guides, not teachers. Acton Guides are adults who enjoy igniting the spark within young people, are great storytellers, believe in equipping and empowering young minds, can inspire and enjoy being inspired. They are always ready to empower young heroes to find their special gifts and strengths.

🤓 The ideal Acton guide is a smart, entrepreneurial individual who:

✅ is passionate about guiding young people on their independent learning journey
✅ possesses an understanding of the Montessori method and
✅ has experience in early childhood education

We are looking for a guide for our Spark Studio - a.k.a. "A Peacefully Strong Composer" This role is for someone who enjoys igniting the spark within young Heroes (4-6 yo). A master multitasker that is a great storyteller, believes in equipping and empowering young minds. Someone who has a great poker face when hearing the silliest of stories and remains calm when it looks like glitter, paint, or flour exploded all over the floor.

Your role will be to equip our learners to:

✔explore and take ownership of their learning,
✔ monitor progress,
✔create life-oriented projects that nurture curiosity.

Preferred experience and skills:

✓ Fluent in English (near-native skills)
✓managing mixed aged groups of young people;
✓ planning and implementing games or projects;
✓ coaching/mentoring and systematizing processes a plus;
✓ a passion for disruptive education opportunities;
✓ deeply curious and ready to learn and work hard;
✓ agile with online learning;
✓ excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills;
✓ entrepreneurial thinker;
✓reader;
✓ deep heart for young people and a trust and respect for their ability to learn and grow without heavy adult intervention;
✓ kind-hearted and tough-minded;
✓ independent worker;
✓ calm demeanor
