Internship Summary
Our Aquaponics Greenhouse is an experiment in using recyclable materials to create a sustainable greenhouse in which we involve the vulnerable children in cultivating an aquaponics garden that produces nutritious food that we can serve at the Community Center and sell in order to generate income for the Center. The intern will be expected to understand and develop the project plan, contribute to increased productivity of fish and vegetables, and involve the children in the growing process.

Qualifications/Education and Experience

• Studies or experience in greenhouses, cold-weather gardening, aqua or hydroponics, gardening or agriculture
• Motivated and responsible individual able to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
• Commitment to building relationships with and investing in the WMF Romania staff community
• Preferred: studies or experience with preparing or conserving food

Community Involvement
Interns will spend approx. 20 hrs a week on:

• Community prayer
• Formation reading and discussion
• Language acquisition
• Intentional interaction and service among the vulnerable

Terms and Conditions

• Worksite Location: Galati, Romania
• Full-time: 40 hours a week
• This is a support-based internship; staff commit to raising support for their salary and expenses
• Weekly Romanian language tutoring will be expected in order to fulfill responsibilities
