Thales Systems Romania (TSR) is now developing its capacities in SW development for Space applications in collaboration with Thales Alenia Space (TAS).

Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), is a key European player in space telecommunications, navigation, Earth observation, exploration and orbital infrastructures. Because of its unrivaled expertise in dual (civil/military) missions, constellations, flexible payloads, altimetry, meteorology and high-resolution optical and radar instruments.

Job summary

As a result of continuous improvement and development strategy, Thales is currently recruiting for an internal application that communicates with the hardware HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer).

HAL is an Application Framework offering a common interface to the functional layer (Building Block) via a set of HAL Application Interfaces designed as a HAL channels and HAL Channel Client.

HAL can be deployed to one or several workstation: functional Building Block can access to data from/to any workstation.

The HAL Administration Console allows admin access to all controllers and HAL Channels Client provide data from/to HW controllers, implements patterns, publish/subscribe events callbacks.

The communication is asynchronous with hardware components using ZeroMQ queues.

• Design and implement software components using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result;

• Assists as part of the team on the design of components of larger systems;

• Produces detailed designs including, for example, physical data flows, file layouts, common routines and utilities, program specifications or prototypes and backup, recovery and restart procedures;

• Puts skills and project based experience into practice and provides support to less experienced colleagues;

• Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues’ work;

• Tests the programmed solution.

Required competencies:

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or similar;

• Professional experience in C++ v11+ software development;

• Knowledge in using: Linux (comfortable using bash terminal);

• Knowledge of BOOST framework and tools like: Git, Jira;

• Highly proficient in spoken and written English;

• Availability to travel.

Would be a plus:

• Work experience in Agile software development processes;

• Knowledge of XML and JSON libraries;

• Working  experience with POCO / QT;

• Knowledge in Java development and JNI;

• Drools, Slurm, JGroups, NetCDF know-how;

• French language.
