Software Engineer

As a provider of internal IT services for METRO GROUP, METRO SYSTEMS Romania provides specialized consulting to retail companies in all aspects of IT, develops specific solutions along the full value chain and provides a powerful IT infrastructure with a team of over 900 IT professionals.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has hands-on expertise with different technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between;
Is able to understand the logic and do basic coding in a variety of programming languages and has continuous desire to learn more;
Is comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment;
Has a strong focus on business outcomes;
Is comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders;
Will focus on lowering the mean time between having ideas and making stuff happen;

The skills you’ll need:

Experience with programming languages (scripting is a minimum: Powershell, Bash etc. and Java, Go, Python, JavaScript are preferred)
Knowledge of cloud platforms (either one of Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, Open Stack would be nice)
Understanding of performance monitoring and tuning (experience with ELK stack would be nice)
Continuous integration/ delivery/ deployment pipelines (have you worked with Jenkins, Octopus?)
General knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (Microsoft SQL; MongoDB or Cassandra/Redis)
General knowledge of networking (security is a plus)
