    Description 

    The Software Test Engineer will be responsible for Test Plan and Test Design Specifications traceable to market requirements and engineering design specifications. He/she will develop automated, repeatable tests using state of the art testing tools. The Test Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of automated tests for the FB3000 Remote Terminal Unit embedded device for the Remote Automation Solutions of Emerson  We work into remotes teams in Agile/SCRUM environment.       

    Responsibilities 

    • Interact with and take direction from the test lead engineer / test manager located locally or/and abroad (US); 
    • Review requirements, specifications, user documentation, help files and other project documentation to assure quality of the products and tests to be developed; (i.e. perform manual static testing); 
    • Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the latest techniques in test automation; (i.e. data-driven testing); 
    • Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites for various RAS products; (i.e. perform automated dynamic testing); 
    • Work with the development team to capture and reuse automated unit test cases, test stubs and drivers, and other development test objects; 
    • Participate in review meetings to identify the quality implications of known bugs and the impact of proposed changes to product definition on the testing process; 
    • Work with the release engineering team to create and maintain the automated build verification/validation test; 
    • Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all test objects developed and test environments used; 
    • Research and document bug reports following agreed-upon processes immediately upon discovery of a quality problem; 
    • Update test execution status following agreed-upon processes as part of regularly-scheduled test status updates; 
    • Trace test cases and results back to specific quality risks and assist the test manager in the creation of test project status reports and metrics; 
    • Provide the test manager with accurate and precise estimates for assigned task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies; 
    • Assist the test manager in preparing test plans, budgets, and schedules; 
    • Contribute to continual improvement of company’s products and solutions; 
    • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and Emerson policy. 
    Requirements 
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; 
    • 1-5 years of experience in testing complex software systems; 
    • Experience writing and editing test scripts and experience creating and maintaining testing environments; 
    • PC based programming skills: C#, .NET, C++, Java, Visual Basic, SQL, scripting languages;    
    • Familiarity and experience with VMware virtualization environments; 
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think laterally as part of a team, or individually, to provide flexible and well considered solutions; 
    • Strong English reading and writing communication skills, with an ability to express and understand complex technical concepts; 
    • Understanding of both hardware and software; 
    • Showing initiative in setting and meeting goals within an environment of managed change; 
    • Understanding the role of testing within the software development lifecycle and business-related project constraints, and effectively advocate for the best possible customer experience of product quality within those parameters; 
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team member; 
    • Efficiently prioritize, multitask, and manage time; 
    • Effectively balance curiosity about tests, test results, and bugs with project constraints on budget and schedule; 
    • Participating in projects where team members are geographically diverse is an advantage.
