IT PaaS Engineer

Demonstrable current operational experience of:
• VMware vCenter and ESXi servers.
• Data Network infrastructures and architectures and connectivity (LAN/WAN.TCP), including WiFi.
• Microsoft Operating systems and applications including ISA, TMG, Exchange and SQL.
• Thorough understanding and enough experience in the following areas: Enterprise architecture, SOA,
service bus deployments, cloud application designs
• Common business applications such as AV, Patching, WSUS, etc.
• Demonstrable current knowledge of relevant product offerings such as Mobile Device Management
(Blackberry, Mobile Iron, etc) and support policies to provide technically accurate solutions to issues.
• The successful candidate must have a good technical background and a flexible nature which will adapt
to additional products entering the business portfolio later along the line.
• Be able to work on own initiative and manage work load.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

To support all Software as a Service and Platform as a Service deployments within the connectivity and security practice in terms of IT system architecture design and selection of enabling components to be delivered by the Infrastructure as a Service organisation VCHS or by the corporate IT function GTDO.
• To be actively involved in Pre-Sales and Technical Design of solutions as well as the implementation of solutions using infrastructure delivered by VCHS or GTDO
• To design system / network solutions to meet customer specific requirements.
• To contribute SaaS/PaaS subject matter expertise in the NPD processes within VF GET C&S and also across other practices (as appropriate) within GET, this includes orchestration of existing IT enablers (core services such as SFTP, SMTP, AD; specific services such as service bus, data mediation, etc) and creation of new standard enablers if needed
• To provide escalation support, for both internal and external customers, on managed SW and platform solution including:
• Investigating and resolving problems as 3rd line support instance in close collaboration with application 2nd and 3rd line teams (support on system architecture).
• Mediating between application support teams and infrastructure support teams ensuring end-to-end incident and problem management
• Availability and performance monitoring for the SaaS/PaaS solutions
• To work closely with different teams (within customers and internally), to provide an outstanding managed service to the client.

Must have technical / professional qualifications or its equivalent
• ITIL v3 Foundation
• VMware VCP
• Microsoft MCP / MCSA / MSCE
• Telecoms / ICT / Networking experience
• SAN & Fibre Channel knowledge
• HP server HW basic knowledge
• Data Network infrastructures and architectures and connectivity (LAN/WAN.TCP), including Wi-Fi.
• Telecoms / ICT / Networking experience
• Thorough understanding and enough experience in the following areas: Enterprise architecture, SOA,
service bus deployments, cloud application designs
• Cisco CCNA, CCNP,
• Routing and Switching expert knowledge
• Firewall, NAT, Proxy, LB expertise
Nice to have:
• Cisco CCIE
• Either in depth WAN or local DC experience ideally in a service design role.
