You have a degree in computer sciences and the drive to expand your horizons every day
Your knowledge of one or more scripting and programming languages like Python, C and Shell Script will help you develop new detection technologies and services to classify malicious threats automatically.You are familiar with security tools like IDA Pro, GDB, Wireshark and Yara and have a good understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP).
You already have knowledge and experience in computer and network security topics.
Experience in working with databases (SQL)
Experience of big data processing or machine learning is a plus.
You are a team player, but you are also able to solve challenges independently thanks to your analytical skills.
Your high level of self-motivation will help you to maintain focus.
Your good English skills will enable you to communicate proficiently with our international colleagues.

As a Threat Research Engineer for IoT, you will strengthen our international team of analysts to expose the nasty tactics of malware authors and to help us fight digital threats.
Your ideas will be used as input to take Avira’s new detection technologies to the next level.
Your performance objectives
Right from day one, you will be a member of an international team of malware and security experts. During onboarding, you will receive intensive training on how our infrastructure works, thereby improving your existing knowledge of different detection services and technologies.
After successfully completing your training, you will analyze samples independently, including researching and developing new services to automatically classify malicious threats and behavior. All your decisions will have a direct impact on the behavior of Avira products on customer systems.
Your professional experience will help you to achieve the objectives in the IoT world, which you are responsible for.
Build and work with a threat analysis system and intelligence platform for IoT threats
Analysis of the latest Linux malware and DDoS attacks, IoT device and Linux based exploits
You are working closely together with the development team to enhance the current products' capabilities of preventing IoT/Linux threats
Research on IoT security, especially on firmware, traffic and vulnerabilities of popular IoT products
Presentation of your research to the public via company blog, industry conferences or academia conferences as desired
