    Requirements

    WHAT DO I NEED TO DEMONSTRATE?

    Required:

    Bachelor Degree or equivalent
    Fluent in English plus at least one of the following: Spanish, Italian, French, German, or other Nordic language
    Strong understanding of accounting principles and of economic and tax principles
    Ability to work to tight deadlines, attention to details, good analytical skills
    Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel
    Strong communicator – able to participate in meetings, challenge current practice/process, raise and discuss issues with clarity

    Preferred:

    Experience of regulatory reporting, preferably in various European legislations
    Experience of working in a shared services, process driven or service center environment
    Expertise in Record to Report function including best practices, technologies, processes, procedures and tools

    Responsibilities

    WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

    The VAT Analyst is responsible for performing a diverse set of work activities included in the end-to-end Record to Report (RTR) process. Main responsibilities are:

    Manage the accurate and timely calculation of VAT, Intrastat, and EC Sales Listings, coupled with other official and statistical returns to the European Tax authorities or other regulatory/official bodies.
    Ensure timely payment and recovery of VAT balances
    Interact with and provide VAT support for the relevant local markets/direct tax teams
    Mitigate risk by performing an in-depth review of all returns prepared by the 3rd party provider
    Avoid fines and penalties by initiating timely payments for VAT and other duties
    Work with local auditors and fiscal authorities to ensure all regulatory reporting queries and VAT audits requests are answered in a timely manner.
    Identify, prioritize, escalate and resolve all issues surrounding VAT.
    Prevent misstatement of VAT balances by performing timely and comprehensive reviews of VAT balance sheet reconciliations.
    Build and maintain sound relationships with the European Tax authorities
    Initiate and support the implementation of process improvements and ad hoc VAT projects as directed by line manager

    Internal peer relationships:

    Primary relationship is with the Local Business to ensure that VAT is correctly accounted for and reported correctly
    Liaise with other team in the Regional Service Centre and Local Markets regarding VAT audits/specific issues.
    Liaise with other Kellogg teams including ,Tax & Treasury, Controls and Legal

    External relationships:


    Build & maintain relationships with European tax and advisors, tax authorities and third party providers and auditors
