Embedded Linux Software Engineer

HARMAN designs and engineers ​connected products and solutions for automakers, consumers, and enterprises worldwide, including connected car systems, audio and visual products, enterprise automation solutions, and connected services.

Basic Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience as a software developer
• 3+ years of programming under Linux
• Experience with build / deployment automation (Jenkins, CruiseControl, Bamboo)
• Source control systems experience (preferably Git)
• Good English communication skills both written and verbal


Preferred Qualifications:
• Embedded systems development knowledge
• Experience in building custom embedded Linux distributions (Yocto or similar)
• Good programming skills in scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python or similar languages)
• Linux security concepts
• Embedded Android knowledge is a plus
• Practical experience with SCRUM and agile methods
• Comfortable in working with international teams
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or other relevant (IT connected) specializations

Eligibility Requirements:
• Willingness to travel (0-20% of time) depending on the project necessities

Job Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, maintain and improve the custom Linux image and associated services used by the BMW infotainment system
• Software and system integration of low-level software stacks
• Analysis of trouble tickets, steering actively the bug-fixing by technical coordination of all involved parties with multiple dependencies when it is required
• Perform code reviews
• Resolve inconsistencies in case of unclear technical requirements in the specification
• Act according the standards of the automotive industry and in-car applications and software development processes
