Reasons to participate at DevHacks
The Hackathon with a purpose
Will you be able to build something that is usable by the end of DevHacks in IoT, Open Source, Robots, Smart City, Education, Health .
This is the real practice in using the ability to get rid of features quickly if you anticipate that
it cannot be done by demo time.
Ability to learn as fast as you can
When you have multiple developers in the team with different skill sets, somebody has to learn a new language on the spot.
Also this is a good reason to try something new (a new language/framework).
Working under limited time
You won't get that much sleep. You need to code your ass off to get something done for the demo.
Prizes, fun & friends
Maybe the best combination. If you expect to make new friends, have fun and win the big prize, you will be likely satisfied with the result.
