Ameropa began as an importer of U.S. and South American grains and oilseeds into Europe after World War II. During the 1970s and again during the 1990s, we built origination capacities in France, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Romania and Russia. We also enhanced our marketing capacities in the Mediterranean, African and far Eastern markets.
In addition to grains and oilseeds, we added brewing barley, rice and feedstuffs to our product portfolio.
Participations in elevators and port terminals with a storage capacity in excess of 1.5 million tons support our activity.
Our fertilizer trade traces its beginnings to the late 1940s. Our first exports were nitrogen products from the Austrian firm Stickstoffwerke Linz, shipped to the U.S. as well as potash shipped to Japan from East Germany and the Soviet Union.
Since then, we have steadily built our global presence and provide to our business partners a full range of services such as optimized logistics, financing and insurance. We offer all types of N, P and K's worldwide. Various soluble and other specialty fertilizers as well as feed phosphates complete our product line.
Ameropa is also marketing petrochemicals, especially methanol, caprolactam, butyl rubber, polyester fibers and yarns.
Participations in fertilizer and chemicals producers and port terminals reinforce our activity.
After 1990, AZOMURES had gone through several periods of restructuring, a privatization in the late 90’s, and in 2012 the property was transferred to the Ameropa company.
The Nitrogenous Fertilizer Plant Tîrgu-Mureş – known today as AZOMUREŞ – was founded in 1962 as a producer of nitrogenous fertilizers. The Nitrogenous Fertilizer Plant Tîrgu-Mureş consisted of three main producing plants (ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate) and five auxiliary units necessary for providing the plant with cooling water, demineralized water, steam, electric power, spare parts and equipment.
