Chartered accountancy – get the facts!

All businesses, large or small, in any sector, need an expert to manage the finances, ensure the figures add up and understand the impact of economic changes over time. They need someone who can speak the ‘language of business’ and understand the factors that influence the strategic direction of an organisation.

So if working at the heart of business appeals to you, then why not consider becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant?

The ACA qualification

"ACA qualification has a very important part in an Ernst & Young employee’s life, being integrated in our continuous professional development program.

As we work with a variety of clients, from dynamic entrepreneurial companies through to established multinationals, ACA is providing our students with a great understanding of business and a variety of opportunities that allow them to explore different parts of our worldwide organization and develop a valuable portfolio of skills and knowledge."

The ACA – what’s involved?

To study for the ACA qualification, you need to apply for a training agreement with one of ICAEW’s Authorised Training Employers. The training agreement typically lasts around 3 years and combines study with full time employment – a great way to earn while you learn! You’ll gain practical experience in a range of business areas, as well as developing your management and interpersonal skills. Training agreements ensure that ACA students achieve consistently high pass rates.

The ACA has both computer based assessments and written exams and the advanced stage is an open book case study. You’ll join a global student network, with access to high quality study resources, on-line support and social networks to help you achieve your potential.

At the end of your training agreement you’ll become a member of ICAEW and use the letters ACA after your name. You’ll also join the elite ranks of business leaders who head up many of the world’s top international businesses as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
