Operations Engineer (Junior Sys Administrator)

We are seeking the right person to serve as an Operations Engineer within the Development and Release Engineering (DRE) team. The DRE team plays a critical role in the success of all EA Sport titles through maintaining and operating computer systems and networks. The focus of this role will be providing operational support for automation systems and virtual infrastructure, for both local and remote teams. The role also requires a prominent software development culture and adequate programming skills, the ability to innovate, to develop new scripts and automation tools as a mean to increase efficiency. This role stresses communication, collaboration and integration between software developers and IT professionals.

Primary Responsibilities
- Plan for and provision virtual machines and associated storage for build and test automation.
- Troubleshoot virtual machine and storage issues.
- Coordinate with both the local DRE Frontline team members and IT personnel to provide reliable systems.
- Provide worldwide support for other DRE locations.
- Proactively monitor resource capacity for various types of applications and systems.
- Identify opportunities to develop automation that improves efficiency in infrastructure workflows.
- Design, develop and maintain scripting and other automation tools.
- Consistently document issues and solutions to enable team to learn and assist in future.

Skills and Experience required
• Experience with vCenter (primary focus on Windows based VMs)
• Strong working knowledge of Windows OS (server & workstation)
• Experience with Linux (RedHat, CentOS)
• Scripting (batch, Windows PowerShell, bash)
• Working experience with monitoring software (Zabbix)
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, principles and solutions
• Strong aptitude towards rigorous testing and validation of work
• Able to prioritize a variety of tasks, ensuring customers are informed of the status of their requests
• Able to identify areas where preventive monitoring can be setup to reduce or prevent problems
• Ability to evaluate existing setup and configurations and provide optimization suggestions
• Ability to work effectively with remote team members across multiple time zones
• Excellent verbal and written English

Nice To Have
• Enterprise Virtualization technologies (VMware)
• Experience writing and debugging in C# or Python
• Familiarity with principles of Continuous Integration (CI) and Release Engineering
• Familiarity with the Jenkins CI
• Familiarity with revision control systems (Perforce)
• Filer concepts and terminology (NetApp, 3PAR)
• Experience with databases (MySQL, MS SQL)
• Previous experience working in a distributed team environment
