Performance Engineer

We've had a presence in Bucharest since 2014, starting with an acquisition of a small team of developers. By late 2016 we had expanded to 20 people and by the end of 2017 we had 40. We continue to invest in and develop our Romania presence aiming to double in size once again some time in 2019. 
Additionally, where we previously concentrated on engineering capacity, we have built a broader and deeper team extending to architecture, product design, and product management so we can have completely self-sufficient and co-located product teams.  

Qualifications

Required

• Education in Bachelor’s degree in computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience.
• Working knowledge of issue/defect tracking tools such as Jira, Test Director etc.
• Highly analytical, pro‐active and detail oriented.
• Must be a self‐starter and be able to operate independently within a team members situated globally.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working in a multi‐site environment with on shore and off shore team
• Good problem solving skills
• Technology
• Strong hands on experience with SOASTA and or other load testing tools
• Strong experience with Profiling tools like Dynatrace or AppDynamics
• Strong experience testing ETL routines for performance and capacity
• Strong experience with business intelligence and reporting performance testing such as Crystal, Jasper, Pentaho, BIRT
• Big Data experience is a must
• Relational and non-relational databases testing methodologies
• Experience in Unix, Windows and other OS monitoring.
• Experience in data mining tools like SPLUNK.
• HTTP protocol
• Basic Statistics
• Relational Database Design
• Testing of web based applications

Desired

• Knowledge of C, Objective C, Java, Java Script and .Net
• Experience in high transaction J2EE website or similar
• Familiarity with Xcode and Eclipse.
• Experience with map reduce technologies such as Hadoop or Mongo DB

• Ability to research new technology.

• Tests the performance and capacity of products in development, which involves reviewing and analyzing system requirements and business needs.
• Creating test plan based on system level and application architecture including assessment of performance and capacity objectives.
• Develop and run test scripts, execute tests and prepare a final report.
• Partners with Product Owners and others to discuss and resolve all performance failures or performance issues.
• Perform manual test execution as needed to meet the needs of the product release
• Troubleshoot issues with automation scripts.
• Implement fixes for automation tools, frameworks or script related issues.
• Perform log/system analysis to identify application issues.
• Update/maintain test scripts to account for changes in application.
• Adhere to coding standards; communicate coding standards to others in the group. Perform code reviews of other’s work and provide meaningful feedback.
• Document work performed and track progress of project.
• Report on individual or team testing progress.
• Demonstrate the performance aspects of the software to other individuals or groups.
• Contribute to technical and non-technical aspects of test strategies and team best practices.

Overview

Responsible for delivering high-quality software products through application testing. Contribution to continuous improvement of Performance and Capacity Engineering (PaCE) and cross-functional software development processes.

Applies experience, intelligence, and creativity to resolve a wide range of moderately complex issues; seeks guidance from other relevant experts on most complex issues (e.g., technical or business complexity). This job is the fully qualified, career oriented, journey level position.

About the Team:

Along with the Development, Product Management, and other cross-functional teams, the Performance and Capacity Engineering team is responsible for on-time delivery of high-quality software releases. The team works together with other functions in small, highly collaborative and empowered teams.
