Senior Web Developer

Degree in computer science or similar field or equivalent practical experience;
3-5 years of experience in architecture, design and development of systems;
Excellent understanding of OOP concepts;
Proven experience of work with Ruby on Rails/PHP is a plus;
Knowledge of software design patterns;
Experience in working with relational and non relational databases;
Knowledge and experience in version control system (GIT, Mercurial, SVN);
Experience with WebSockets is a plus;
Knowledge of website optimization((HTTP caching, server side caching, query optimizing);
Fluency in written and spoken English;
Iterative and incremental software development;
Open to learn new technologies and practices, embracing innovation and change.

Development and maintenance of applications and services;
Be accountable for the non-functional properties of your software;
Obsessively test the software that you build;
Participate in code review;
Communicate clearly about status, problems and ideas with other developers, managers, users and stakeholders;
Invent, propose, prototype and deliver new ways of building better Technology at Macmillan;
Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other team members.
