Requirements

Certifications

· VMware Certified Professional (VCP 4)required
· VMware Architect preferred
· MCSE preferred
· Or two or more technical relevant certifications or equivalent work experience

Qualifications

· 5 - 10 years of IT infrastructure technical implementation experience required
- Direct involvement in working with internal and external teams to consult, implement and troubleshoot configurations -
hardware, software and services.
- 3+ years engineering experience related to x86 technical offerings such as VMware, Microsoft, Linux, and as a plus
Hyper-V.
- Technical Knowledge on VMware product line (ESX/ESXi 4.x, vSphere, PowerCLI in particular) and application
Development, SQL, and/or scripting experience are highly desired.
- In depth direct system engineering experience involving hardware, software and services solutions for x86 Solutions.
- Extensive skills with Windows Networking, Active Directory
- Advanced Networking concepts (TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls, Network Security)
· Thorough understanding of enterprise datacenter technologies including Networking, Security, TCP/IP, SAN and
NAS, physical datacenter practices
- Demonstrated ability to assess, architect, implement and troubleshoot IT Infrastructure systems and configurations in
the designated practice using procedures, scripts, and templates.
- Demonstrated engineering expertise (gather requirements, problem solve and recommend) in mid-sized and Fortune
1000 customer environments
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high level of Customer Satisfaction on all engineering engagements
- Thorough understanding of enterprise datacenter technologies including Networking,
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Basic understanding of Project Management concepts
- Excellent Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint skills
- Ability to acquire technical skills
- Ability to investigate problems and utilize problem solving techniques
- Ability to work as a team player in a consulting environment
- Provide L3 on-call engineering & operational support for L1/L2 operations teams
- Participate in the update of support documentation through evergreen process
- Participate in the creation of work instructions and knowledge base articles
- Participate in the Change Management process and deployment releases

Responsibilities

The Virtualization Senior Engineer is a seasoned professional with a proven track record of relying on their innovation,
creativity, technical prowess and leadership skills to deliver robust, efficient and stable solutions to their clients. The
Senior Engineer is a resource who has demonstrable experience navigating large enterprise environments, marrying
complex business requirements to progressive design solutions, and overseeing the transition to production. The engineer
must be capable of presenting his solutions to the client audience, develop detailed documentation, and perform service
delivery skills in support of large scale server consolidation/virtualization projects. The Senior Engineer is a mentor and
subject matter expert in the use of prevailing virtualization technologies and must be able to oversee the execution of
Virtualization deployments from inception to delivery.
Applicants should be highly-motivated, technology driven, possess strong communications skills, can develop strong
cross-group collaboration and is willing to take on the challenge of dealing with ambiguity. Candidate should also have a
broad understanding of machine virtualization.
· Architect, design and implement complex system configurations and standards for x86, Solaris, AIX, and Linux
platforms at an expert level in diverse, demanding customer environments
· Assess, recommend, plan, and implement complex consolidation projects using virtualization technologies
· Develop repeatable standards and implementation processes to ensure product uniformity and quality
· Directly interact with clients, account managers, and peer solution architects to develop customized Virtualization
solutions
· Serve as a technical escalation point in support of high risk, complex operational challenges
· Apply best practices, strategies, methodologies, and approaches to large scale projects
