Language Weaver was founded in January 2002 to commercialize a breakthrough approach to automatic language translation and natural language processing, based on research advances made at the University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute. Language Weaver’s resulting product, statistical machine translation software (SMTS), uses a statistical rather than traditional rule-based approach to correlate words and word groupings from language to language and produce the highest probability output.
In July of 2010 Language Weaver was acquired by SDL and became SDL Language Weaver. SDL is the leader in Global Information Management (GIM) solutions that empower organizations to accelerate the delivery of high-quality multilingual content to global markets. Its enterprise software and services integrate with existing business systems to manage the delivery of global information from authoring to publication and throughout the distributed translation supply chain. The business is growing rapidly, both organically and through acquisition, and derives approximately 50% of its revenues through North American based clients.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience with Scrum, preferably Agile / Scrum experience as a Scrum Master preferred.
• 5+ years experience with delivery of software releases – managing release plans, schedules, risks and issues.
• Experience working with a cross functional team comprising product management, engineering management and support to review user stories and refine product requirements. Prior experience establishing cross functional team is a plus.
• Track record of managing multiple complex tasks.
• Excellent proficiency in English
• Strong presentation, interpersonal skills and writing skills.
• Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions, and be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent strengths in time management and organization skills with an aptitude toward creative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Ownership, Definition and Prioritization of Sprint backlogs to deliver to product release goals and objectives
• Collaboration with Scrum teams to deliver user stories in the product backlog
• Communicating and reporting to stakeholders on progress against the product and sprint backlog
• Release planning, supporting Product Owners and Engineering Management to identify feature scope and tradeoffs, and provide sizing of stories
